Puppy Class - round 2

Round 2 of puppy class and Winter and I were going to have to go it alone. Unfortunately Mr Finklestink works every other weekend so this was a trend we were going to have to live with.

Ready to go and a little less nervous thanks to the human only class in the previous week I pack Winter into the back of the Nimbus and we set off.

I made it down two streets before the incessant wailing from the back of the car got the best of me. I rationalised that an overly stressed puppy was probably not the best thing to bring to the first puppy-human class so I pulled over and moved her to the front passenger seat where she instantly calmed.down (but lets face it, I really did it because I'm a soft ass).

We turn up and surprise surprise Winter is the largest dog there. The other puppies were cute and a couple were so cute I wanted to squeeze until their little heads popped off.

Winter cautiously entered and then hid under my seat. We discussed our homework (yes we had homework) while the puppies warmed to each other, got used to the new scary environment and eventually came out of their shells.

Winter continued to hide under my chair.

Eventually she was tempted out with her cryptonite... anything edible.

A few handfuls of chicken treats later and Winter was interacting with the other puppies although she never left my side. It was at that point the instructor sent me out of the room for 10 mins. I was the only one that had to do this. Very embarrassing. The biggest dog there was also the woosiest.

She eventually forgot about me and I was allowed to come back in.

The session ended with more homework and demonstrations on how to train 'sit', 'stand' and 'lay down'.

We said our goodbyes and we packed our puppies back into our cars (Winter in the front). It was at that point the change in me occurred. I was going to make Winter the smartest dog in the class. The best trained. The toughest and most focussed.

I had become... The pushy mummy.
